The NFL To Become First Sports League In Snapchat’s Discover Section

The NFL season will begin will begin on Septemebr 8th, and when it does, the league will have a new platform on which it can share its content. The professional football organization will officially become the first sports league with a spot in Snapchat’s brand-focused Discover section.

The NFL’s placement within Discover carries on an existing partnership between the league andSnapchat. The two companies previously teamed up for Live Stories that provided multiple perspectives from NFL games, and those collages are only expected to grow in number in the coming year, as the league plans to offer Live Stories for every single game in its 2016-17 season.

Beyond those Live Stories, the NFL will share additional updates through its Discover channel, which will live alongside Snapchat hubs for 19 other brands. While the Discover roster (and the section’s layout

) has shifted since its 2015 launch, the represented brands have generally been media companies like BuzzFeed, ESPN, and Tastemade. While the addition of the NFL to the lineup represents a new direction for Discover, the announcement is not a surprise. Digiday hinted that the football league would join Discover two weeks ago.
