YouTube Red’s First Four Original Programs Will Arrive On February 10th

On its YouTube Red platform, YouTube offers its users ad-free streaming for $9.99 per month. When the subscription service was first announced, YouTube sweetened the deal by announcing a series of original programs–all featuring popular personalities from within the site’s creative community–that would premiere exclusively on Red.

On February 10th, those original programs will begin to show up. On that day, three films and a series will arrive on YouTube Red. The films are A Trip to Unicorn Island, Lilly Singh’s tour documentary; Lazer Team, Rooster Teeth’s sci-fi action adventure; and Dance Camp, which is produced by AwesomenessFilms and stars Meg DeAngelis. The series is Scare PewDiePie, an unscripted offering from YouTube’s most-subscribed channel, PewDiePie.

All of the upcoming programs were announced as YouTube Red originals when the service was launched last October. They are all catered to the fanbases of their respective stars, and YouTube is betting that superfans will be willing to pay $9.99 for early access. Dance Camp, for

example, will be available as a digital download on March 25th, but if DeAngelis’ fans can’t wait that long to see her acting debut (or if, say, they also want to watch A Trip To Unicorn Island), YouTube Red has them covered.

Watching the YouTube Red originals will require a subscription, but some teasers and trailers will be available on a new channel dedicated to the service. The first video posted there gives a quick run-through of the programs that will be available on the 10th, as well as a couple others that will be released later on.

“These series and movies are just the beginning,” reads a YouTube blog post. “We have lots more thrills, chills, LOLs, smiles, romances and surprises from more of your favorite YouTube stars coming later this year.”

More information about the YouTube Red originals can be found in a previous blog post published last October.
