Sh*t Girls Say Inks TV Development Deal With NBCU’s Style Media

The Twitter account that spun-off a web series with Juliette Lewis, a book published by Harlequin, and a full-fledged internet meme with thousands of contributors will be spinning off into another medium. Deadline broke the news the creators of the uber-popular Sh*t Girls Say inked a development deal with NBCUniversal’s Style Media to bring an iteration of their comical, cross-dressed take on stereotypical feminine behavior to television.

Toronto-based Kyle Humphrey and Graydon Sheppard created the Sh*t Girls Say Twitter account in April 2011. It’s now up to 1.9 million followers, due in large part to the incredible success of the pair’s Sh*t Girls Say four-episode mini-series. The duo uploaded their first installment in December 2011, which featured Sheppard in a variety of everyday locales wearing women’s clothes and saying things some girls tend to say. Since then, the video has been seen no less than 19.5 million times. Here’s another look:

The Style series will reportedly feature Sheppard’s character – aka ‘The Girl’ – exploring the “worlds of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle through her unique and comedic yet universal point of view” in a comedy sketch show format. “Even as she finds herself in outrageous comedic situations, ‘The Girl’ represents our core audience,” said Style’s Senior Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Sarah Weidman. “A passionista who loves fashion and entertaining.”

No word yet on when you may be able to catch Sh*t Girls Say on the small screen and it’s still unclear if NBC will issue a memo on how to DVR the series before it airs, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
