Days before the start of the 2026 NFL season, TikTok has renewed its partnership with the most-watched sports league in the U.S. Football will be all over the U.S. version of TikTok in the coming months, with users getting access highlights, player interviews, and archival footage.
Through a multiyear partnership, TikTok will disseminate NFL coverage for seasons to come. Synergy between the two companies dates back to the 2010s, and TikTokers showed up in NBC football broadcasts in 2024. Heading into the 2026 docket, the NFL will share content across nine different accounts, including a flagship hub that reaches more than 20 million followers.
The NFL and TikTok have a good relationship, but the league’s dealings with YouTube have recently pushed into TikTok’s territory. YouTube is the host of the NFL Sunday Ticket package, a broadcaster of live games, and a trusted source for millions of football fans. Last year, YouTube supplanted TikTok as the sponsor of an official Super Bowl “tailgate.”
YouTube’s activity in the sports world has been beneficial for both its bottom line
and its streaming traffic. TikTok, therefore, has a lot of incentives driving it toward expanded NFL coverage, but it can only maximize that attention if it can keep up with the competition. That’s why TikTok is integrating the NFL into several products. TikTok GamePlan is a key offering for sports organizations that want to activate on TikTok, and the NFL will take advantage of that opportunity this season. TikTok Pro Events, a community hub that rolled out during the FIFA World Cup, will now bring football fans closer to the action. And the Pulse Premiere ad product, a recurring topic during TikTok’s NewFronts pitches, is pairing brands with relevant NFL content.
“The NFL isn’t just a sport, it’s a year-round way of life where fandom thrives through game-day highlights, daily trends, and player personalities,” TikTok Global Head of Sport Rollo Goldstaub. “By pairing the NFL’s thrilling moments with TikTok’s global reach, we’re helping the league unlock brand-new audiences while giving lifelong fans deeper access to the game. And with TikTok GamePlan, we’ve created a dedicated space that fuels discovery, transforms how football is experienced, and drives tune-in throughout the season.”
During the World Cup, TikTok’s official content received more than 24 billion views, proving that the app has broken into the mainstream within the sports world. The NFL season is the next big test for TikTok, but the GamePlan is all sorted out.
