Atmosfy to support its community of travel influencers with $500,000 creator fund

2023 was a big year for Atmosfy. The nascent platform raised $12 million and launched new features aimed at its community of travel creators. Now, Atmosfy has found a new way to support its globetrotting user base. It has announced a creator fund that will dole out $500,000 among the active influencers on its platform.

The Atmosfy Creator Equity Fund, as the venture is known, supports its recipients by making them stakeholders in the young platform. Creator Equity Fund will take advantage of financial incentives that will be tied to Atmosfy’s success.

Atmosfy combines the short-form video focus of TikTok with the location-based social networking of Foursquare. The app offers video reviews of local restaurants and businesses, which are sourced from the community of Atmosfy influencers. The app advertises itself as a tool creators can use to engage with fans at a “hyperlocal” scale through meet-and-greets and other events.

When choosing the creators who will benefit from its equity fund, Atmosfy will consider a variety of factors. It will screen applicants for brand fit while also measuring their respective contributions to the Atmosfy community. Users who connect with local businesses and rank among the app’s most-engaging creators will receive consideration.

With its equity-based approach to funding, Atmosfy is following a notable trend in the creator economy. Companies like Karat have helped influencers become investors in their own right. The decentralized organization CreatorDAO has turned its creator-investors into decision-makers, and Atmosfy seems to be doing something similar here: It is looking to strengthen its community by giving some of its active users a stake in its future.

According to The Information, applications are due to open soon on the Atmosfy website. You can keep tabs on the young platform by following its official blog.
