Jellysmack and pocket.watch are investing $25 million in creators making content for kids

Global creator company Jellysmack and kids & family content/IP company pocket.watch have put together a $25 million fund to fuel creators making kid-friendly content.

Funding will come from Jellysmack (which works with top YouTube creators to re-optimize and distribute their videos across platforms like Snapchat and Facebook) and will be available exclusively to pocket.watch’s content creator partners.

The goal of the fund is to “create stability and predictability for kids and family creators enabling them to invest more heavily in their content, thanks to Jellysmack’s creator financing and pocket.watch’s tailored assets for monetizing kids and family content on and off YouTube,” Jellysmack and pocket.watch said in a press release.

Two of pocket.watch’s creator partners, The Stella Show (1.65 million subscribers) and The Onyx Family (3.67 million), were the first to receive money from the fund.

Thanks to this funding, The Stella Show was able to hire a channel writer and director, pocket.watch says. The Stella Show is also producing an original series with pocket.watch that’ll debut on the company’s SVOD service Ryan and Friends Plus

later this year.

“Collaborating with pocket.watch allows us to work with a whole new sector of content creators and aligns with our mission of enabling the best creators to Go Bigger,” Sean Atkins, President of Jellysmack, said in a statement. “We have a shared philosophy and purpose in the creator economy, and are thrilled to now be linked to some of the top names in kids and family entertainment through this partnership.”

“We did a tremendous amount of research into finding the absolute best company to partner with on this new fund and Jellysmack stood head and shoulders above the rest,” Chase Landau, SVP Creator Partnerships at pocket.watch, added. “This partnership adds a whole new dimension to the value we can create for this unique set of creators focused on great kids and family content.”

This partnership is far from Jellysmack’s first multimillion-dollar investment into creators, but it is Jellysmack’s biggest move in the family and kids space to date.
