Jellysmack gets in the FAST lane with Roku partnership

Jellysmack is known for assisting creators as they expand to new platforms. For its next move, the self-proclaimed “global creator company” has its eye on a buzzy form of distribution: Free, ad-supported television, or FAST. In order to get its partners on more screens, Jellysmack has teamed up with Roku to launch a pair of FAST channels.

The two entertainment destinations, titled Hello Inspo and Mysteria, are now available on devices that support the Roku Channel. The former hub features lifestyle programming from some of Jellysmack’s top creator partners. Lauren ‘LaurDIY’ Riihimaki brings her brand of DIY content to Hello Inspo, while Emmy ‘Emmymade’ Cho shares recipes with the channel’s viewers.

Riihimaki and Cho were two of the creators who got their own shows as part of a 2022 deal between Jellysmack and Pinterest. “I can’t believe that viewers are now able to watch my cooking content on live TV, ” Cho said in a statement. “Launching my own show on The Roku Channel is an incredible place to be and I’m thrilled to share my love of food with more fans. Big thanks to Jellysmack for helping to make it all happen.”

As for Mysteria, the spooky channel will provide a FAST home for some of the internet’s top true crime storytellers. Jellysmack partners featured on that hub include Stephanie Soo and Christina Randall.

The videos on Jellysmack’s FAST channels are packaged as shows, which can be accessed through the Roku Channel’s Live TV Guide. In total, 17 creators are currently featured across the two channels.

With its Roku pact, Jellysmack is extending its creator program, through which it assists partners with analytics, distribution, and more. The firm’s FAST dealings are led by Stefanie Schwartz, who came to Jellysmack from Viacom last year. In a statement, Schwartz described the new Roku channels as a chance to find “big opportunities” for creator partners.

As consumers search for cost-effective streaming options, FAST platforms have become increasingly popular. YouTube recently established a foothold in the format by plotting a FAST service marketplace to go along with its Primetime Channels hub.

With FAST growing…well, fast, the Roku Channel is a good place for creators to be. Roku’s linear solution reaches an estimated 100 million viewers in the U.S.
