A creator who dives for sunken treasure has secured a precious reward for all his hard work. Brandon Jordan, the titular star of the Jiggin’ with Jordan YouTube channel, has landed a development deal with the TV production company Dorsey Pictures.
Jordan explores various outdoorsy activities on his channel. He fishes and hunts, but most of all, he dives. By submerging himself in popular swimming and boating locations, he is able to locate sunken items while cleaning up the seafloor. Occasionally, in videos that are reminiscent of the Adventures with Purpose channel, he helps locate evidence in ongoing criminal cases.
So if you drop your Juul while tubing, don’t worry. Jordan might be able to find it for you.
Jiggin’ with Jordan has attracted more than three million subscribers, and the channel’s popularity convinced Dorsey Pictures to take a look. This is the studio’s first deal with a digital-native creator. “Brandon has an incredibly engaged YouTube following, with his videos reaching millions of viewers,” said Dorsey Pictures CEO Chris Dorsey
and SVP Matt Assmus in a joint statement. “We’re excited to launch him into television as an extension of his already impressive brand.”Dorsey Pictures is best known for its unscripted shows, which are distributed on channels like Oxygen, Discovery, and HGTV. The production company is an offshoot of Red Arrow Studios, which is itself part of the German conglomerate ProSiebenSat.1. In 2017, ProSiebenSat.1 announced a merger between Red Arrow and the digital network Studio71. Nearly four years later, Studio71 co-founders Michael Green, Reza Izad, and Dan Weinstein re-united to launch Underscore Talent, which represents Jordan.
For Jordan, a transition to TV will be the next step in a fascinating career. In a 2o18 interview with Tubefilter, the Florida-based creator admitted that he “never tried to be a YouTuber.” For a guy with such an unusual origin story, he’s doing pretty well for himself.
