YouTube Expands Its $100 Million Shorts Fund To 70 Additional Countries

YouTube is expanding its Shorts Fund to 70 additional countries.

Beginning this month, creators in countries including Pakistan, Ireland, and Peru will be eligible to receive monthly bonuses — ranging from $100 to $10,000 — for creating Shorts. You can check out the full list of eligible countries and regions right here.

While Shorts monetization is still evolving, YouTube announced the $100 million Fund in May in the U.S. and India. The Fund rewards creators — whether or not they are members of YouTube’s Partner Program — for Shorts that drive the most engagement and views, much in the same vein as TikTok’s Creator Fund or Snapchat’s Spotlight monetization paradigm.

YouTube also announced in its latest Creator Insider

video a new Shorts feature that will notify creators when 15-second clips from their videos are repurposed for other creators’ Shorts. A maximum of one notification per day and three notifications per week will be deployed, YouTube said. At the same time, a new card in YouTube Analytics will show users how many Shorts have been created repurposing audio from a single video, as well as how many views those Shorts have received.

Finally, on mobile, YouTube is launching a new tab on creators’ channel pages where they can display all of their shorts in grid view.
