Netflix Scoops Up Hype House Reality Series

Netflix has picked up The Hype Life, a reality series about popular TikTok creator collective Hype House.

The unscripted series, which is being produced by Jimmy Kimmel and Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse Group as part of an overall multiyear deal with Hype House, will follow members including Chase Hudson (30.5 million followers), Nikita Dragun (13.5 million), Kouvr Annon (13.5 million), Sienna Mae Gomez (15 million), Larray (23.3 million), Alex Warren (14.2 million), Thomas Petrou (8.1 million), and Jack Wright (8.2 million).

Per the show’s official description, viewers will “[j]oin these iconic content creators as they welcome us into the infamous Hype House, open their lives to the world and show a side of themselves and their relationships we’ve seldom seen.”

Deadline reports that the series will explore creators’ backstories, revealing how and why they joined TikTok and Hype House. It will apparently also showcase some of the business side of influencerdom, including brand deal executions and the process of bringing in new Hype House members.

The Hype Life’s executive producers include Wheelhouse’s chief content officer Eric Wattenberg, Deanna Markoff (former co-exec producer of The Real Housewives of New Jersey

), Luke Neslage (exec producer on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City), Kit Gordon (producer on Little People, Big World), and Will Nothacker, who’s co-president of Wheelhouse’s subsidiary content company Spoke Studios.

Wattenberg, a former CAA talent agent and co-head who joined Wheelhouse in early 2020, told Deadline he thinks Hype House’s show has Real Housewives-esque potential.

“The people in the houses may come and go, but the houses themselves will continue to generate new stars,” he said. “From my old school TV days, this could be a Housewives where we’re going around from city to city.”

No debut date for the series has been announced yet. It is currently filming.

Hype House is the first TikTok collective to land a deal with Netflix, but its members are not the first digital stars who’ve crossed to bigger screens. The D’Amelio family (150+ million followers on TikTok, collectively) have an eight-episode reality series dropping on Hulu sometime this year, and Addison Rae (38 million) is starring in Netflix’s upcoming She’s All That remake.
