Spotify Will Now Enable Podcasters To Generate Shareable ‘Promo Cards’ For Social Media

Spotify has unveiled today a new promotional tool for podcasters, which will enable creators to generate promo cards that they can share across social media.

Additionally, Spotify is launching a comparable tool for musicians. Promo cards will be available within Spotify For Artists and Spotify For Podcasters — platforms that enable musicians and podcasters to manage their respective presences on the platform — though they will live on dedicated microsites.

On these sites, creators will be able to customize shareable graphics to promote their artist profiles, a new song, a full album or podcast, or individual podcast episodes. Additionally, podcasters and musicians will be able to create promo cards when they appear on a total of 33 Spotify-curated playlists.

In terms of podcast playlists, creators will be able to create promo cards when they appear on Best Podcasts of the Week (which is updated every Tuesday), Brain Snacks (for short-form factoid content), and the true crime-centric Crime Scene. Spotify launched dozens of podcast playlists back in April — including Fodder for Foodies and sports-focused Goal! — though the above trio marks its flagship offering. And more podcast playlists could be added for promo card eligibility down the line, the company said.

On the music front, 30 playlists will be eligible for promo cards, including: Are & Be, Fresh Finds, Indigo, Just Good Music, Rap Caviar, Today’s Top Hits, and more. (The full list is available here).

At launch, promo cards will be available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. The two promo card creation micro sites — for artists and podcasters — don’t require logins. Creators can simply search for the content that they wish to promote, customize the image — including aspect ratio and background color — and then download the cards to be shared across the web.

When Spotify launched two native charts dedicated to podcasts in July — for ‘Trending Podcasts‘ and ‘Top Podcasts — it also announced the ability to create promo cards for featured creators. This capability will be housed within the new microsites, the company said.
