Wengie, the massive YouTuber and K-pop star, is building her burgeoning empire with the launch of a toy line dubbed Whimsical By Wengie.
Wengie, whose pranks, life hacks, and kid-friendly slime videos have amassed a whopping 13.5 million subscribers on YouTube with more than 20 million views a month (and 25 million followers across all social platforms), will drop the line on Sunday at 1,800 Target stores nationwide. Products — which will also be available online — include body art, a glitter lava lamp, a unicorn hair kit, and a scented slime pack.
Wengie, whose real name is Wendy Ayche, has ventured into music in recent months, releasing eight singles in the span of a year. Most recently, she collaborated with Filipino pop star Iñigo Pascual
on a track titled “Mr. Nice Guy” (see below). Additionally, Ayche voices one of the Powerpuff Girls on the Cartoon Network reboot.Target has made major strides in working with influencers in recent months. At its first-ever NewFronts presentation in May, the company named industry vet Karyn Spencer its director of talent partnerships and influence marketing — its first Los Angeles-based employee dedicated to influencer marketing. It also re-branded its in-house media company, first launched in 2016, and now named Roundel.
