Here’s Why YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki Started Her Very Own Channel

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki unveiled her very own channel last month in a star-studded video featuring advice from a slew of top influencers about how to find success on the platform.

And now, Wojcicki, who says she’s been uploading private videos to YouTube since the site’s inception, is explaining to her 26,000 subscribers why she decided to make a public-facing channel. In a new video, she breaks down three reasons: to forge relationships with creators in a scalable way; to launch a new web series called 2×2@HQ, where she will both pose and answer two questions from digital stars visiting YouTube headquarters; and to test new product features to have a better sense of how they will impact the community.

“When you’re a creator, it’s a different experience. You’re thinking about thumbnails, the title, the description, analytics,” she says in the vlog (below). “There are many features that are creator-facing only, and I really wanted to use them to make sure that I understood the creator experience.” By experimenting, Wojcicki says, the aim is to build a better platform.
