YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki Launches New Channel With Influencer-Packed Intro Video

YouTube’s CEO has launched her very own channel on the site over which she presides.

While Wojcicki, 49, looks to have had a YouTube channel before, it has since been wiped clean and currently houses just one video, aptly titled My First Video — Advice From Creators. Wojcicki hardly appears in the clip, which is instead packed with cameos from top YouTube stars like Dan & Phil, Bethany Mota, The Dolan Twins, the Eh Bee Family, Lele Pons, Rhett & Link, The Rock, and many more. To date, the video has  clocked nearly 52,000 views — though it counts more than twice as many ‘dislikes’ (8,000) as ‘likes’ (3,000).

Some of the advice that the above creators had to offer about launching a new YouTube channel includes: be authentic, practice and rehearse dutifully, strive for fastidious editing, ignore negative comments, showcase pets whenever possible, and consistency is key.

“I’m going to be making videos regularly,” Wojcicki, who joined YouTube as CEO in 2014, says at the end of the inaugural video — though it remains to be seen what kind of content she intends to pursue and how frequently she will post. Wojcicki could use the channel to share a behind-the-scenes look at YouTube HQ or to disseminate product updates and company news, for instance. She could also conceivably use the platform to speak out against sexism in Silicon Valley — a mission that has become central to her career.

Wojcicki’s channel, initially launched in Sept. 2013, today counts upwards of 7,000 subscribers. Check out her first video below:
