At this point, MrBeast will reach 500 million subscribers in no time. Initially, we were projecting the North Carolina-based creator to hit the half-billion mark at the end of July, but if he continues his current trajectory, he could reach that milestone as early as mid-June.

During the last week of May, MrBeast added four million new subscribers. That wasn’t just the highest total of the week — it’s the highest seven-day sum we’ve ever seen since we started issuing this ranking. MrBeast now has 494 million subscribers, which is far more than anyone else on YouTube.
How did MrBeast get back to beast mode?
It’s funny to think about MrBeast as a lagging creator, but for a time, the owner of YouTube’s most-subscribed channel was not living up to his usual standard. He spent a long time out of the #1 spot in the Global Top 50 as channels like BabyBillion and Jasmin and James zoomed past him. Analysts noticed overall viewership decreases on the MrBeast channel and big financial losses at the creator’s production company.
As it turns out, rumors of MrBeast’s decline have been greatly exaggerated. MrBeast has pulled off a clean sweep in our charts for three consecutive weeks, leading both the viewership and subscriber rankings. How was he able to rebound decisively?
MrBeast is the ultimate student of YouTube, and his willingness to take cues from other popular creators has spurred his statistical renaissance. His main channel offers a mix of his signature long-form channels and some short-form quick-hitters, and the latter category is filled with clips that mimic the most popular Shorts stars. There are cute animals, couple videos, and challenges — and that’s just in the past six weeks.
Even Jimmy Donaldson’s secondary channel, MrBeast 2, is getting in on the fun. Its short-form library has become a promotional tool for Donaldson’s snack brand Feastables, with those glorified ads filtered through the lens of Shorts culture. There are dessert taste tests, oddly satisfying challenges, and colorful clips. It’s all stuff that kids love, and as a result, MrBeast 2 gained 500,000 new subscribers over seven days to reach 23rd place in the Global Sub Top 50.
Donaldson is humble enough to learn from creators who best him in terms of weekly viewership. At the same time, he has some tools at his disposal that other creators just can’t match.
For example, he can drop big-budget videos that haul in 50 million views within three days of their initial upload dates. Those blockbusters bring a surge of interest to the MrBeast channel, allowing Donaldson to consolidate his lead as YouTube’s most-subscribed creator.
And while many creators post short-form videos imploring viewers to subscribe to their channels, Donaldson found a way to one-up them. How many people, after all, can supersize those simple videos by bringing in the literal CEO of YouTube as a collaborator?
When you think about everything Donaldson has going for him, it’s easy to imagine MrBeast as the perennial #1 in our charts. No other channel can match the star power, production quality, and process-based approach that Donaldson brings to his primary hub.
And yet, YouTube continues to change. At some point, another channel will knock MrBeast out of the #1 spot. When that happens, you can bet that Donaldson will study the hub that surpassed him and incorporate those lessons into future videos.
