At the first incarnation of VidCon Australia, event organizers are hosting a contest that will give aspiring creators the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience.
As part of the first-ever VidContest, creators are now invited to submit short videos — less than one minute in length — illuminating their creativity and skills. Ten finalists will be part of an exclusive screening series at VidCon Australia, and the winning clip will be screened on the mainstage and posted to VidCon’s YouTube channel. The winner will also receive two tickets to VidCon Australia, a one-year membership to the Internet Creators Guild, and exclusive YouTube merch.
Submissions can be made by following VidCon on Twitter
and tweeting a link to entry videos using the hashtag #ImACreator. The contest closes on August 11, and the winner will be announced on August 18. VidCon Australia will be held on September 9 and 10 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.“Australia is famous throughout the world for being home to great creative talents, and we really want to celebrate this,” said VidCon Australia COO Michael Gardner in a statement. “One minute of video might not sound like much, but we are excited for our Aussie community to demonstrate how much entertainment, creativity, and surprises can be crammed into 60 seconds.”
