BBC.com will be making its first appearance at this year’s NewFronts ad conference, the international news site announced today. Its presentation will take place on May 8 at 9:00 am ET. The NewFronts, hosted by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and now in its sixth year, serves as an opportunity for leading video publishers and platforms to showcase their latest initiatives to prospective advertisers.
The BBC will make its NewFronts debuts as event regulars like Yahoo, BuzzFeed, and Fullscreen have all announced in recent weeks that they are opting out of this year’s event in favor of more intimate meetings with brand partners. Joining BBC.com as first-time presenters are Twitter and Astronauts Wanted.
“During the event, BBC.com, one of the most trusted news sources in the world, will explore how its editorial expertise and values can enhance its commercial offerings,” the company said in a statement, “as well as how news organizations like the BBC can play an integral role in combating fake news.” BBC.com is a commercially funded international news platform that reaches 95 million unique monthly visitors across PCs, tablets, and mobile devices, it says.
Other news organizations set to present at this year’s NewFronts, which kick off May 1, include The New York Times and Bloomberg.
