12-Year-Old ‘Stranger Things’ Star Launches YouTube Channel

While YouTube stars like Colleen Ballinger and Cameron Dallas have made the leap to Netflix to try their hand at longer-form projects, one of Netflix’s newest stars — Stranger Things lead Noah Schnapp — is taking a converse journey.

Several days ago, 12-year-old Schnapp — who plays young Will Byers in Stranger Things, and whose disappearance lies at the heart of the award-winning sci-fi series — announced that he would be launching a YouTube channel. “Hey guys! Thinking of calling my YouTube channel SchnappTube,” Schnapp tweeted last week to his 150,000 followers. “What’d you guys think?” He also said that a video featuring his sister would soon be coming.

And now, SchnappTube is here. The channel’s first vlog documents Schnapp’s journey to the SAG Awards over the weekend, and already counts 10,000 views in less than a day. Commenters were thrilled about the

new venture, which counts roughly 4,000 subscribers, though many noted that the vlog had been shot entirely in vertical format — a totally forgivable error given that it’s Schnapp’s inaugural outing. Check it out below:

Schnapp says he plans to post additional vlogs and challenges to the channel in coming weeks. Some of his favorite YouTubers, according to the Schnapptube ‘About’ section, are Typical Gamer, Liza Koshy, and Lilly ‘Superwoman’ Singh — with whom he and fellow Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin shot a collab video over the holidays.

Schnapp isn’t the only Stranger Things star to have a YouTube channel. So does Millie Bobby Brown, who plays a young girl with supernatural powers on the show. Brown’s channel comprises various music covers and counts roughly 85,000 subscribers.
