Netflix Cleans Up Half Of This Year’s SAG Awards In Television Category

At yesterday’s 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, honoring the best performances of the year in both film and television, Netflix took home four of the eight awards in the Television category.

The streaming giant took home the awards for Best Ensemble in both the drama and comedy categories for Stranger Things and Orange Is The New Black, respectively. Netflix also received top honors for Male Actor In A Drama Series, which went to John Lithgow for his work in The Crown, and Female Actor In A Drama Series, which went to Claire Foy for the same series. (Foy also won a Golden Globe earlier this month for her work in The Crown).

Netflix was the only digital platform to take home any SAG Awards last night — though Amazon did receive four nominations for Manchester By The Sea and one for its hit series Transparent.

We will get past the lies. We will hunt monsters.” And as Harbour spoke, co-star Winona Ryder looked on with a series of bewildered and blissful facial expressions.
