Since Burning Love burst onto Yahoo in 2012, Jonathan Stern and Keith Quinn have served as executive producers for some of the web’s funniest shows, including Hulu’s Hotwives, Fullscreen’s Filthy Preppy Teen$, and the video on-demand special Beef. These shows have often featured the same comic actors within their respective casts, and two of those stars — Rob Huebel (Human Giant) and Paul Scheer (The League) — are the co-creators of Stern and Quinn’s latest concoction, a Go90 series called Drive Share.
Drive Share takes places within the cars-for-hire of a fictional ridesharing app called DRVSHR. While that in itself is not the most novel idea for a web series, Drive Share manages to be particularly funny by adopting a “semi-scripted” approach and letting the skills of its talented cast members shine through. The first episode, for example, features Huebel, Love’s Claudia O’Doherty, and several other actors with notable credits to their names.
Previous collaborations between Stern, Quinn, and their comedian partners have spoofed the over-the-top nature of American reality television. While Drive Share doesn’t match up with a specific show in the way Bachelor parody Burning Love did, it is shot to resemble an unscripted program, which in turn complements the deadpan delivery of its cast members. Two episodes of the show are currently available on Go90, and they’re funny enough to merit a watch.
