Periscope Launches Tiered ‘VIP Program’ That Offers Benefits To Top Broadcasters

Periscope is currently accepting applications for its just-announced VIP Program — a benefits initiative aimed at giving top broadcasters on the Twitter-owned live streaming platform opportunities and tools to help grow their audiences.

“As a member of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to get recognized in the community, reach new viewers, and collaborate with other great broadcasters,” according to Periscope. “As your community grows, you’ll unlock even more benefits.” The VIP Program will consist of three different tiers signified by different badges — bronze, silver, and gold — which will appear on creators’ profile pages and elsewhere across Periscope.

Bronze members, who must have 10,000 followers and an average of 200 live viewers per broadcast, will receive care packages from Periscope “to ensure you look on point while broadcasting” as well as prioritization in search results. Silver members (at least 30,000 followers and 300 total live viewers per stream)

will receive all of the aforementioned benefits as well as inclusion in future discovery products, prioritized support within 12 hours, private broadcasts from the Periscope team, and access to a Slack channel with other VIP Program members to foster collaboration.

Finally, the gold tier — who must have over 100,000 followers on Periscope and at least 500 live viewers per broadcast — will receive “elevated access to collaborate with the Periscope team,” in addition to all of the other benefits.

While Periscope says it is generally looking for creators who broadcast at least twice per week and possess roughly 10,000 views per video and 20,000 followers, the company is also encouraging creators on other platforms — including YouTube, Instagram, and other live streaming apps — to apply. Applications are available right here, and benefits will roll out in coming weeks.
