Hank Green’s Internet Creators Guild (ICG) Launches New Members-Only Web Destination

The Internet Creators Guild (ICG) — a nonprofit launched by prominent YouTube star Hank Green and longtime VidCon executive Laura Chernikoff last June to champion the digital creator community — has just unveiled a brand new website.

Available to members only (membership is priced $60 per year) at InternetCreatorsGuild.com, the new site will house one of the organization’s key offerings — a so-called Knowledge Base. The Knowledge base will comprise resources and articles created by board members (who include Anna Akana, Olan Rogers, Aureylian, and Wengie), as well as commentary from other industry professionals. Topics include, for instance: making a living, navigating platforms, developing your content, building a community, and managing yourself.

Within the Knowledge Base, there is also a Q&A Forum — a Quora-style hub that is searchable by tag or topic — as well as Peer Discussion Groups, where creators can interface with colleagues with similar subscriber counts, or connect with those who are working on similar content formats.

In addition to the members-only site, the ICG also currently hosts a community group on Slack, a weekly podcast featuring Green called Creator Talks, and a public Medium blog that will aim to serve as bridge between creators and the press, creators and platforms, and provide general industry commentary.

The ICG’s latest blog post is an essay from prominent YouTube and Twitch gamer Boogie2988, who describes how his channel got hacked last summer, and offers steps that fellow creators can take in order to better ensure security. The ICG’s latest podcast features a conversation with board members Aureylian — a YouTuber, Twitch broadcaster, and lead community manager at Twitch. In the interview, Aureylian discusses the differences between Twitch and YouTube, and what it’s like being a single mom on YouTube.

Creators can apply to become ICG members right here.
