PewDiePie Blows By 43 Million YouTube Subscribers, Adds 20K Per Day

PewDiePie continues its ascent towards impossible online video statistical heights. The YouTube channel that’s home to Swedish-born, UK-residing 26-year-old Felix Kjellberg and his special brand of high-octave, Let’s Play gaming and altruism just passed 43 million YouTube subscribers.

Kjellberg’s channel passed the 43-million-subscriber mark sometime on March 27, 2016. Before that, it hit 42 million subscribers on February 6, 2016. That means in 50 days PewDiePie added an additional million recruits to its Bro Army. That breaks down to roughly 20,000 subscribers per day, 833 subscribers per hour, 13 subscribers per minute, and one subscriber every 4.32 seconds. That’s a fast clip, for sure, but down from Peak PewDiepie when Kjellberg added about 71,428 new subs per day during the first two weeks of March 2014.

Still, Kjellberg needs not worry about any YouTube star passing him on the overall subscriber charts anytime soon. Since it passed Smosh to occupy the top spot back in August 2013, PewDiePie’s closest competition has been the Chilean Germán Garmendia and his HolaSoyGerman channel. It’s currently in a very distant second place with just over 27 million subscribers.

For those unfamiliar with Kjellberg’s PewDiePie, you can get a sampling of his personality from the trailer for his YouTube Red original series below. Scare PewDiePie features the YouTube star in a variety of increasingly horrifying situations orchestrated by Skybound Entertainment, which knows a thing or two about scares considering it’s the studio behind The Walking Dead.
