YouTube Millionaires: Maddi Bragg Doesn’t Want Her Viewers To Ever “Get Bored”

Among the cavalcade of young, stylish creators on YouTube, Maddi Bragg has carved out a place for herself. Across a videomaking career that spans nearly five years, the 17-year-old Bragg has found an audience with her collection of lifestyle videos, fashion looks, beauty tips, challenges, and much more. Here’s how she described her growing digital fame:

Tubefilter: How does it feel to have 1 million subscribers? What do you want to say to your fans?

Maddi Bragg: I can’t even fully describe the way it feels to have that many people supporting me. It feels like a dream. I want them all to know how much I appreciate every single one of them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

TF: Why did you decide to start a YouTube channel in the first place?

MB: I started my channel out of both boredom and interest of seeing what would happen if I were to launch my own channel. I watched a ton of beauty & fashion vloggers before I started my own channel. One day I was bored and thought, “Hey, I could do that!” Almost five years later, here I am, still making videos.

TF: What’s been your favorite part of being a YouTuber? The most frustrating?

MB: My favorite part of being a YouTuber is uploading a video I worked really hard on and getting amazing feedback from everyone. It such an amazing feeling knowing people enjoyed watching the video as much as I did making it. The most frustrating part is thinking of new video ideas! I try to post consistently, but week after week I always struggle to think of new and exciting ideas for videos. I don’t want my viewers get bored from the same formats over and over again, but it’s definitely the most frustrating part of uploading every week.

TF: How difficult is it to maintain a second channel? How do you decide what content goes on there as opposed to your primary one?

MB: It’s pretty difficult to maintain a second channel because I strive to put the best content on my main channel so I spend a lot of time on those videos and end up putting my second channel on the back burner. Now, my second channel is mostly vlogs, which I really enjoy filming! Vlogs give my viewers a different kind of glimpse into my life and are just a very different style of video. On my main channel I post mainly beauty & fashion videos that I spend a lot of time carefully editing.

TF: While your most popular video is about your everyday makeup routine, you note on your “about” page that the before-and-after video of your braces is also well-known. Why do you think it resonated so much with viewers?

MB: I think my before-and-after braces video did so well and really resonated with my viewers because a lot of people go through the process of braces or are about to go through it, so they like to see what my experience was like and my before-and-after transformation. Braces are a big part of being a teen and I hoped sharing my experience has helped a few people out there!

TF: Why did you want to make an iPhone case with WildFlower Cases? What other products do you want to create in the future?

MB: I’ve known the owners of Wildflower Cases for a long time now and have always thought about doing a collab with them. I carry my phone everywhere and always use their cases, so I thought, why not create my own and sell it so other people could use my design? It was my first “product” launch, and I’m so lucky it got to be with WildFlower! I made iPhone 6 and 6+ cases, and the whole lot of 2,000 sold out in about two months, which was incredibly overwhelming! I’ve met quite a few people who watch my videos who were using my case of their phone. It’s seriously such a cool feeling! As far as creating other products in the future I have a lot of plans. I don’t want to give away too much but I’m super into fashion so who knows maybe one day I’ll have my own clothing line!

TF: What’s your favorite part about launching your own app?

MB: My favorite part about launching my own app was being able to connect and talk to all the amazing people who support me in one place. Also, seeing them connect with each other is so cool. Its really just a place for everyone to share and talk with each other. I absolutely love it.

TF: If you could give just one piece of advice to a new video creator looking to make a channel like yours, what would that be?

MB: My main piece of advice for anyone starting a channel is to stay true to yourself. No one wants to see a copy of another person. They like you for being you and expressing your personality. If you are genuine people will stick around and support you, I promise.

TF: What’s next for your channel? Anything fun?

MB: I hope to start an original series, maybe something having to do with styling!? Who knows where the future will take my channel!
