YouTube Gaming, Music MCN Omnia Media Gets Investment From Blue Ant Media

Omnia Media announced today it’s the latest YouTube multi-channel network to receive outside investment. The LA-Based MCN focused on the music, gaming, and style verticals that boasts over 40 million subscribers across its 650 channels that amass over 550 million monthly views received an investment from Canada’s Blue Ant Media.

Blue Ant Media is a privately held media company that creates and distributes lifestyle, travel, documentary, music, and entertainment content across a number of its own specialty television channels (including Travel+Escape, Bite TV, and Cottage Life) and premium commercial-free television channels (including Oasis HD, HIFI, Smithsonian, and radX) and their associated digital properties. Savvy online video readers may already be familiar with them from their recent multimillion dollar initiative with Canadian-based online video animation powerhouse Mondo Media. The two entities partnered with YouTube in November 2013 to launch a $3 million program to find the next breakout animated entertainment sensation.

Individuals close to Blue Ant Media’s Omnia Media investment tell us this deal is in the seven figures, too, and will allow Omnia’s growing talent roster to leverage Blue Ant’s established expertise and infrastructure in the area sales, broadcast, and distribution.

”Our relationship with Blue Ant Media allows us to offer our creators an amazing opportunity to expand their reach and monetize their content through new, direct relationships with brands,” said Tamoor Shafi, CEO of Omnia Media, in the release. “We’re continuing to look for great new talent to work with and help develop hit content that will make them stars on and off YouTube.”

The press release and Omnia Media’s website highlight the network’s association with high-profile individuals in the music industry like Wyclef Jean, Hopsin, and Talib Kweli, but it’s worth nothing that a decent chunk of Omnia’s 550 million monthly views come from two gaming channels.

SeaNanners and TheSyndicateProject left Machinima for Omnia Media back in October 2013. In February 2014 SeaNanners scored over 56 million views, while TheSyndicateProject racked up over 33 million. That’s a collective 89 million views or roughly 16% of Omnia Media’s reported 550 million views worldwide per month.
