PewDiePie continues to smash YouTube records. The Swedish gamer is now over 14 million subscribers, and it doesn’t seem like he’ll slow down any time soon.
Even though it feels like there aren’t that many people left on YouTube who haven’t subscribed to PewDiePie already, his subscriber count is actually accelerating. He made the leap from 13 million to 14 million in just 20 days, an absurdly impressive figure that translates to 50 thousand new subscribers each day. The gap between him and second-place channel Smosh has widened to nearly 1.3 million, even with the comedy duo bringing in new fans at their own torrid pace.
PewDiePie also continues to rake in tens of millions of views each week, and he will soon be top ten in that category as well
. He is on pace to pass Smosh in about four weeks, even though Ian and Anthony got a five year head start. Here’s one of Pewds’ newest Let’s Play videos, where he fires up zombie shooter Contagion:It seems like it will be a long time before any other channel undergoes the massive growth needed to catch YouTube’s Scandinavian juggernaut. Of course, I said that about Smosh as well, and look how that prediction turned out.
