Sh*t People Say: Tubefilter Meetup Recap

Last month we teamed up with YouTube for a Tubefilter Meetup at Google’s Los Angeles headquarters: Sh*t People Say—Formula For Success.

And if the photo album on SnapYourself is any indication, we had a lot of fun. For those of you who couldn’t make it out, we now present the video form the meetup. Thanks for bearing with us.

The creators discussed the key elements of a Sh*t People Say video (after we glanced at over 100 variations collected on the Tubefilter Chill page), and how they were able to capture the phenomenon before it was too late.

Billy Sorrells, creator of Sh*t Black Girls Say, jumped on it only days after the original. “Looking at the original video, the first thing we recognized was that they told a story without actually telling a linear story,” Sorrells said. “When we were able to understand this, the capabilities and possibilities became endless.”

Our panelists had some other gems and surprises, but I won’t spoil it for you (watch the video).
