Hulu Gets 1 Billion Views…on YouTube

Hulu has a YouTube channel.

The internet’s premiere online video streaming service “that offers a selection of hit shows, clips, movies and more at Hulu.com, numerous destination sites online, and through [an] ad-supported subscription service, Hulu Plus” launched that channel on March 3, 2008 and has since populated it with no less than 175 videos. Those videos include Hulu commercials and Super Bowl spots, teasers for Hulu original series (like that Kevin Smith show and the one from Morgan Spurlock), and clips from The Simpsons and Family Guy (which are meant to tease the full episodes, which you can watch in their entireties on Hulu).

And people watch those no less than 175 videos. In fact, people watch them A lot.

Hulu’s YouTube channel recently received its 1 billionth (with a “b”) view, making it one of the latest inductees into the video sharing site’s Billion Views Club.

It crossed the threshold sometime in early April, averaging just a few views shy of 670,000 views per day, a few views over 20 million per month, and a few views under 250,000 million per year.

Those aren’t Phil DeFranco numbers, but still. Not bad! Especially since Hulu appears to be using YouTube solely as a means to further its plot to destroy the world for getting online video viewers to find out about and click over to Hulu.com. (Veteran online video viewers will notice Hulu doesn’t appear to be in YouTube’s Partner Program, as there aren’t any ads running against Hulu’s YouTube videos or on Hulu’s YouTube channel page.)

Check out Hulu on YouTube for yourself at YouTube.com/HuluDOTcom. And if you find any of those previews of original series or the clips from The Simpsons and/or Family Guy enticing, be sure to visit Hulu.com to watch them (and more premium programming) in full.
