The music biz is changing. (Obviously, right!?! You’re like, “Tell me something I don’t know!”) And it’s easy to see that change from a macro level. You didn’t have to be in the audience for VEVO CEO Rio Caraeff’s presentation about online music video viewing metrics – like the 250 million people around the globe that watch a combined total of 3 billion music videos on VEVO per month – at his company’s digital content upfront to know new and social media have dramatically changed the music industry, from creation to distribution, sales to consumption, and everything in between.
But what about on a micro level? How are social media sites and online video platforms effecting and benefiting individual artists? How can a burgeoning band use Twitter to its full potential? How should an indie act approach music videos in the age of YouTube? How can artists and labels successfully leverage social media and online video?
