Twitch is continuing its live programming push during the holiday season, and for its next event, it’s piggybacking on one of its biggest platform-wide trends of 2022. The streaming hub has linked up with Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer to launch a game show called Celebrity Yard Sale, which is sponsored by Hyundai.
Celebrity Yard Sale is a two-episode special that will go live on Huebel and Scheer’s shared Twitch channel, which they call the Friend Zone. Alongside a long list of guests, the two funnymen will run through a series of games, Price is Right-style. The contests will have names like “Wrap Battle” and “Is This A Lifetime Movie?” The culmination of the event will involve its sponsor — one lucky viewer will win a 2023 Hyundai Tucson.
The first of the two shows is taking place at 9 PM ET on December 16. A day later, the second half of Celebrity Yard Sale will go live at 7 PM ET. Confirmed guests include Rob Riggle, Kumail Nanjiani, Kaitlyn Olsen, Nicole Byer, Ben Lee, Carl Tart, and Jerry O’Connell.
Twitch is putting on the show as part of For Twitch, With Twitch
, which connects creator-driven content to brand partners. Another show related to that initiative is POG Picks, a series of holiday-season streams hosted by creators across the world. With these gamified productions, Twitch is following a trend set by creators like Ludwig and Jerma, who have delivered high-concept game shows to their followers.“We love working with Twitch and their partners because it allows us to conceive large ideas and execute them in a way that gives us total creative control — which is unlike the traditional system of making TV and film,” Scheer and Huebel said in a statement. “Plus, our wives want us to get all this stuff out of the house.”
The two comedians may not look like typical Twitch stars, but they’re no strangers to internet culture. Their previous online video credits include the series Drive Share and the comedy special Crash Test.
A teaser for Celebrity Yard sale is available here. If you want a chance to win a brand-new car, check out the rules of the contest before you enter.
