Jack in the Box hunts for a “Head Twitch Creator” to stream on its behalf

If you’re excited about streaming on Twitch but less excited about sharing your face with the internet, Jack in the Box has a solution for you. It is hiring a Head Twitch Creator, who will don a round, smiling head, put on a conical hat, and go live as Jack Box, the fast food brand’s mascot.

Jack in the Box put out a casting call for its Head Twitch Creator on October 3 and will accept applications for the role until October 10. The streamer who is selected for the position will star as Gamer Jack on the burger chain’s Twitch channel, where weekly broadcasts and collaborations with prominent creators will take place. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must be “goated with the sauce,” according to a description shared by Jack in the Box.

“We’re excited to take our Twitch presence to the next level by introducing a new side of Jack Box as a streamer and open up this opportunity for all creators on the platform, from amateur to pro,” said Sheena Dougher, Senior Director of Marketing Communications at Jack in the Box, in a statement. “We’re looking for our inaugural Gamer Jack to leave a Jumbo Jack-sized footprint in the gaming world!”

The Head Twitch Creator will be well-compensated for their work. The position comes with a competitive salary, and benefits include a “gaming setup makeover” that will outfit Gamer Jack with state-of-the-art tech.

The launch of the Gamer Jack personality will be the next step in Jack in the Box’s growing Twitch presence. Earlier this year, the San Diego-based brand opened a “virtual drive-thru” on its channel. Viewers who stopped by the stream could claim deals, promotions, and special offers. They also got a chance to say hi to Jack Box’s smiling face.

Jack in the Box’s latest Twitch-based initiative recognizes a growing trend in the online video world. The rise of VTubers has enabled streamers to gather large audiences without needing to appear as themselves on camera. The creator who becomes Gamer Jack will use an analog method to conceal their identity, and they won’t be the only masked streamer on Twitch. Dream and Disguised Toast are two gamers who became popular while hiding their faces.

The Head Twitch Creator casting call came out of a partnership between Jack in the Box and ZONED Gaming. The marketing agency is a subsidiary of Gamesquare Esports. More info about the Gamer Jack position can be found here.
