Kansas City-based Pot Roast, one of TikTok’s most-beloved cats, has sadly passed away, her owner shared in a video earlier this week.
The cat has 993,000 followers under the ‘Pot Roast’s Mom’ moniker. She died in her owner’s arms, per the TikTok post. “When I saw Pot Roast this morning, I could feel that she was done fighting. And even though I wasn’t done fighting for her, I let her go,” Pot Roast’s Mom — who does not disclose her real name — wrote. “She went to sleep in my arms.”
People reports that Pot Roast was adopted from a Missouri shelter in 2014, when her mom was a sophomore in college, at an on-campus event for stressed-out exam takers. Equal parts scraggly and adorable, she first went viral on TikTok in Dec. 2020.
That said, the cat had suffered from feline herpes, stomatitis, and had recently acquired feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). Pot Roast’s Mom, who does not disclose her real name, had chronicled the ways in which her cat’s health had taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks, resulting in two blood transfusions.
It remains to be seen whether Pot Roast’s Mom will forge onward with new content. In her most recent post, she shared with viewers that she was taking Pot Roast to the taxidermist.
