TikTok is using a global placement network and agentic AI to plan a big ad push in 2027

TikTok came to Advertising Week New York 2026 with some big boasts — and even bigger promises.

The social video app sees itself as a hot target for brands and agencies heading into the new year. That idea is backed up by TikTok’s recently released Economic Impact Report, which claimed that the app supported 410,000 jobs in the U.S. in 2025. Another piece of good news came from Kantar‘s Media Reactions 2026 report, which showed that TikTok is the #1 platform where marketers plan to increase their ad spend in 2027.

If agencies are going to focus more on TikTok in 2027, then the app needs to continue developing a well-rounded product suite that can best serve its ad partners. We learned about some additions to that suite at Ad Week, and unsurprisingly, TikTok’s roadmap includes a lot of agentic AI. That strategy, which numerous creator economy companies have pioneered in recent years, is manifesting on TikTok in the form of Agentic Commerce.

So if you want to uncover some choice finds on TikTok Shop, the app’s automated Shopping Assistant will surface the product details you require and convey them to you in a conversational format. From there, a streamlined Buy Direct option will enable purchases without leaving the TikTok app.

Brands are also getting a piece of TikTok’s agentic AI. A new product called Agentic Leads is designed “to capture, qualify, and convert high-intent, actionable consumer prospects,” forging the TikToker partnerships that brands are (apparently) coveting.

AI is also enhancing ads that run on TikTok’s search bar and across its TikTok Shop listings. “AI is transforming how advertiser content is created and scaled,” said TikTok Global Head of Monetization Product Partnerships David Kaufman in a statement. “With our suite of solutions, we bringing together AI, automation, and creativity to help advertisers improve performance while reducing effort. We are enabling advertisers to create work that feels relevant, move at the speed of culture, and drive meaningful business impact.”

If you’re suffering from AI fatigue, there are a few other TikTok Ad Week announcements that offer a more human touch. Notably, the ad product formerly known as Pangle is coming to the U.S. Brands that dive into the offering now called the TikTok Ad Network will be able to launch placements across nearly 400,000 third-party apps. The TikTok Ad Network is another reason why TikTok is ready to rule the creator economy in 2027 — even if the resulting ads won’t show up on TikTok itself.
