In 2025, TikTok managed to put most of its regulatory issues in the U.S. to bed. As a result, its American impact continued to grow, and the number of businesses relying on it increased.
That’s one of the main takeaways from the latest TikTok U.S. Economic Impact Report, which dropped last week. TikTok USDS Joint Venture, the company that oversees the star-spangled version of the popular video app, revealed that TikTok supported 410,000 U.S. jobs during the 2025 calendar year.
According to the report, which was conducted by research partner PF Global, about 8.5 million of the 200 million active TikTok accounts in the U.S. belong to companies. Those “businesses using TikTok” collectively added $81 billion to the U.S. economy in 2025. And over the same period, TikTok claims to have added $9.7 billion to the U.S. creator economy.

“This study demonstrates that TikTok is more than just another app in the online marketing toolkit,” claims TikTok USDS JV. “It has become a game-changer for millions of businesses. More than ever, U.S. business owners say their livelihood depends on TikTok’s unique ability to help them reach otherwise unreachable customers and generate new revenue streams. In just a few short years, the platform has gone from a novelty to a necessity for entrepreneurs looking to survive and thrive in even the most challenging economic environments.”
TikTok previously reported a €31 billion economic impact in the European Union. Now, TikTok USDS JV is surging forward at a similar pace, and a lot of the features that power the app internationally are also paying off for American creators and businesses. For example, U.S. sales have proven talismanic as TikTok Shop stays on track for $100 billion of annual GMV. Now, the U.S. Economic Impact Report is claiming that more than half of U.S. adults have made a purchase due to a TikTok video, while U.S. small businesses generate $35 billion from ads on TikTok.
Those numbers compare favorably to TikTok’s 2024 totals, but how do they hold up against the app’s primary competitors? YouTube, like TikTok, publishes regular economic impact reports, and the latest one showed a $60 billion contribution to the U.S. GDP in 2025. TikTok’s report doesn’t refer to GDP by name — preferring to characterize its impact with the nebulous “businesses using TikTok” category — but like YouTube, its contributions to the U.S. economy are worth billions.
TikTok may not always take the most specific approach when talking up its economic impact, but that doesn’t mean the corresponding report lacks detail. In fact, it’s a 90-page document filled with facts, bold claims, and strategic implications, so give it a look if you’re a creator or business owner who plans to make use of TikTok in 2026 and beyond.
