TikTok’s top executives have reportedly “pushed out” former head of global marketing Nick Tran, according to The Information, which cited two anonymous sources familiar with the situation.
Tran joined TikTok in 2020, and has led myriad efforts, including the launch of its first creator NFT collection and video-based job discovery platform. He also managed TikTok’s ad-buying budget on linear TV and across digital.
It is unknown why Tran is departing, per The Information, which notes that COO Vanessa Pappas
will resume global marketing responsibilities.TikTok did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Tran is a major force in the world of digital marketing. He served as Taco Bell’s digital marketing and social media lead in 2011, and was an early advocate for YouTuber collaborations. In 2018, he joined Hulu as VP of brand and culture marketing before arriving at TikTok in April 2020.
