Digital guru Kelly Day has a new role at ViacomCBS following the merger of the two media giants. Day, who departed her position as president of Viacom Digital Studios (VDS) in January, has assumed a new role as COO of ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) — the company’s international unit.
In her new role, Day will be tasked with accelerating the digital transformation of VCNI’s business, strengthening its digital and streaming operations. She will oversee the Viacom Digital Studios International division (VDSI) as well as VCNI’s finance, business intelligence, legal affairs, strategy, and operations.
VCNI, which operates in five continents and 180 countries, comprises Australia’s Network 10, U.K-based Channel 5, Argentinian network Telefe, and Viacom 18 in India, as well as the global iterations of U.S. staples like Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, and BET
. VCNI also comprises Paramount Network and Pluto TV at the international level.“Kelly has an outstanding track record in building digital businesses and her expertise will be crucial in driving forward our transition to becoming a more digitally led operation,” VCNI president and CEO David Lynn — to whom she will report — said in a statement. “I’m confident that with the addition of Kelly to our newly-streamlined leadership team, ViacomCBS Networks International will continue to deliver growth by licensing our brands, content, and IP in the highest value and fastest growing international markets as we accelerate our streaming strategy.”
At VDS, Day spearheaded thousands of hours of new content across MTV, Nickelodeon, and Comedy Central, clocking 30 billion online views in 2019 — a 75% year-over-year increase, according to ViacomCBS. She also oversaw the acquisitions of both Awesomeness TV and VidCon.
Day replaces Melody Tran, who is departing ViacomCBS after serving as COO of VCNI since 2017.
