Buffer Festival is set to return to Toronto, and it is accepting submissions from creators who wish to join the lineup. The film festival, which has celebrated high-quality work in the online video community since 2013, has reopened its Uplist program, which gives up-and-coming videomakers the chance to be featured across six different categories.
As was the case last year, Uplist is open to all, regardless of their subscriber counts or levels of influence. Between now and August 27, creators can submit their work to be evaluated by the Uplist panel, which includes both creators and representatives from camera retailer Henry’s, which serves as Uplist’s sponsor.
Ultimately, one winner will be chosen in each of six categories: Empowerment and Acceptance, Comedy, Short Films, Music, Documentaries and Mockumentaries, and LGBTQ+. The selected creators will be flown to Toronto for the sixth edition of Buffer Festival, which will take place in Toronto between September 27-30, 2018.
The projects featured among last year’s Uplist slate included “Lose Some Weight,” a short film from creator Chantel Houston. It has gone on to receive more than 2.5 million views online.
“Our Uplist submissions are getting better and better every year,” said Buffer Festival CEO Scott Benzie. “We really believe in this grass roots support of emerging Creators and are very thankful to have found a partner in Henry’s that shares that vision.”
