When VidCon returns to the Anaheim Convention Center on June 20, 2018, dozens of brands will set up shop on the facility’s ground level, where they will be part of the event’s Expo Floor. In order to attract the attention of curious passersby, VidCon exhibitioners are incentivized to dress up their booths in the most extravagant, eye-catching, and entertaining ways possible.
In recent years, the most lavish of these installations have left lasting impressions on us, and we got the idea it’d be a an entertaining endeavor to award the most creative exhibitioners for their hard work. (As the founders of The Streamy Awards, we here at Tubefilter know a thing or two when it comes to judging the online video industry.) So at VidCon, we’ll be doing exactly that: We’re pleased to introduce in collaboration with VidCon the Best In Show Awards, which will give props to the most impressive booths on the Expo Floor. And we want you help us decide the winners.
In order to judge the Best In Show contenders, our editorial team will take to the Expo Floor on Thursday, June 21. While we’re there, we’ll rigorously inspect the active booths. We’ll haul in all the swag we can get our hands on, until we resemble human billboards. We’ll do our best to learn about all of the exhibitioners who are appealing to VidCon attendees. And, of course, we’ll take a crack at the The World’s Longest Inflatable Obstacle Course
. You know, for science. On Friday, June 22, after we’ve successfully inspected all the installations (and potentially sprained our ankles in the process), we’ll reveal the winners across five categories:
“But wait,” I hear you cry, “didn’t you say there are five categories? You’ve only mentioned four!” Good spot. I can tell that you have the keen eye needed to be an exemplary Best In Show judge, so let me tell you where you come in. The fifth award will be an Audience Choice Award, which will be decided by you, the fans.
Keep an eye on this space for details about how to vote on the Audience Choice Award. In the meantime, start thinking about what you see in your ideal VidCon booth. And if you haven’t yet picked up a pass for the online video industry’s top gathering, you can do so right here.
