YouTube Launches Hispanic Heritage Month Playlist To Honor Its Latino Creators

The 30-day period between September 15 and October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, and YouTube is taking some time to honor the hard-working creators in its community who fit that identity. It has launched an initiative on its YouTube Spotlight channel that includes multiple playlists dedicated to the content produced by Hispanic and Latino creators, including Lele Pons, Eric Ochoa, and Bethany Mota.

The playlists, according to a YouTube blog post, will be refreshed every nine days during Hispanic Heritage Month, and will showcase a diverse and eclectic cross section of Hispanic and Latino videos. YouTube is overflowing with stories that are rich in Latinx and Hispanic culture and perspective,” reads the post, “and it includes voices that span a vibrant spectrum of backgrounds and experiences.”

The current playlist, as of this post, includes clips from Pons, Ochoa, and Mota, among others. For Pons’ turn in the YouTube spotlight, the video site has shared “Training to be a Latina,” which the Colombian-American star uploaded last year. Beyond Pons, it also features several other notable Latina creators.

YouTube hopes that lesser-known members of its Hispanic and Latino communities will bring forward their own clips to be presented in the Hispanic Heritage Month playlists. If you think you have an appropriate video, you can tag it with #HHM or #HispanicHeritageMonth to catch YouTube’s attention.
