Beginning today, young YouTube fans will be able to consume content from the platform’s Kids app on smart television screens. The YouTube Kids app is now available on LG, Samsung, and Sony smart TVs in the 26 countries where the service is currently offered. YouTube Kids will also be available on Android TV “soon,” according to the company.
“We’ve heard from families that they love watching videos on all their devices,” product manager AJ Crane writes in a company blog post, “so bringing the entertaining and enriching content of YouTube Kids to the biggest personal screen (your TV) seemed like the perfect fit.”
YouTube Kids, launched in February 2015, today counts over 30 billion lifetime views and over eight million weekly active viewers. The video giant is also in the process of rolling out its first slate of original YouTube Red series targeting Kids viewers, including Kings Of Atlantis, DanTDM Creates A Big Scene, and animated series Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force, which arrives May 5.
