Livestreaming Platform Live.me Adds Translation Tool, VIP Monthly Memberships, More

Livestreaming app Live.me has announced four new features, including a language translation tool, additional analytics, a VIP membership option, and a referral program.

The translation tool, which Live.me says is a first in the livestreaming space, translates what a broadcaster is saying in real-time via text relayed onscreen. Viewers are also able to type a comment that is instantly translated into the broadcaster’s native language. The feature is available now to verified users — though Live.me says that initially viewers “might encounter bugs and unexpected translations in an environment filled with slang.”

Additionally, Live.me is rolling out new metrics around broadcasts, earnings, and audiences — just to verified accounts for the time being. After a broadcast is finished, for instance, verified users will be able to see the number of views clocked, new fans gained, gifts earned, and graphs of video performance over time. And broadcasters will also receive a letter grade after each broadcast — ranging from A+ to C — which will then translate to special badges that show up on their profiles.

In addition to the new analytics, next month, a subscription service priced at $20 per month will be available to Live.me fans. A membership will comprise a monthly 1,000 coin allowance (coins are a form of currency used to reward broadcasters; last year, the platform said it had paid out more than $1 million to creators), as well as 20 additional coins every day. Membership also includes special comment animations, exclusive virtual gifts, and a VIP profile indicator.

Finally, Live.me has announced a referral program, launching next month, which will reward fans who encourage their friends to join the service. All users will hereby receive a referral link, and whenever the app is downloaded using that link, both the sharer and the new member will receive 10 free coins.
