While YouTube is filled with gamers and beauty gurus galore, there’s a portion of its creators who are dedicated to something just as addicting: food. Many of YouTube’s most popular faces spend all their time in the kitchen, whipping up some tasty (but not always nutritious) treats.
But how did these cooks become so famous on YouTube? Some chefs, such as Gordon Ramsay, Alton Brown, and Jamie Oliver, got started on traditional television, but quickly realized bringing their cooking smarts over to YouTube would help them expand their reach to new markets. Other “cooks” simply decided to break the rules, have fun, and upload their culinary experiments to the online video site. A perfect example is Hannah Hart of My Drunk Kitchen, who now has a best-selling book in stores and is making the rounds on mainstream cooking shows because of her inebriated cooking antics.
You can learn how to successfully start your own YouTube foodie-inspired channel by taking a cue from these four top chefs on the online video platform. Check out the infographic below, which details their careers, and provides five steps for getting your own cooking channel up and cookin’.
