Ben Stiller-Produced “Next Time On Lonny” Arrives On Maker.TV

At its Digital Content Newfronts presentation, Maker Studios‘ announcements included the debut of a number of new web series and the launch of an off-YouTube platform called Maker.TV. It has now synthesized these two new developments by launching the first three episodes of one of its highest-profile web series, Next Time On Lonny, on Maker.TV.

Next Time On Lonny follows its titular hero as he tries to adjust to his new life in Los Angeles. The first few seconds of each episode are presented as a fake reality show called Lonny: Los Angeles. When a narrator begins to preview the next episode of that reality show by uttering the phrase “next time, on Lonny,” all hell breaks loose. A number of guest stars will contribute to the chaos, and the first episode includes an appearance from Lizzie Bennet Diaries star Mary Kate Wiles.

Next Time On Lonny began as an independent web series created Alex Anfanger

, who stars as Lonny, and Dan Schimpf, who directs. They kicked off Lonny’s story with a six-episode first season, which is now available on Maker Studios’ comedy channel, Nacho Punch.

Anfanger and Schimpf came to Maker Studios after striking a deal with Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Digital, which is co-producing the 10-episode second season. The comedy actor’s production company is looking for its next big web series success after bringing Burning Love to Yahoo in 2012.

Next Time On Lonny is one of a number of exciting web series projects coming to Maker Studios. Key and Peele have teamed up with the network for Ithamar Has Nothing To Say, while a cast of young actors will star in a fashion web series called Oh, You Pretty Things. Look for both of those programs to also make use of Maker.TV as the network builds its off-YouTube presence.
