Popular Online Video News Network The Young Turks Head To Hulu

WIGS isn’t the only YouTube channel that’s testing out Hulu waters. The Young Turks Network is hoping to make waves on the premium online video streaming service, too.

The burgeoning online video brand that’s home to its eponymous flagship news program announced today it would be assembling a version of The Young Turks especially for Hulu. A 30-minute daily edition of The Young Turks will be available on the premium online video destination site and feature the top five or so stories of the day culled from The Young Turk Network’s CEO and frontman, Cenk Uygur and The Young Turks‘ host, Ana Kasparian’s two-hour daily news show.

But in addition to the news, The Young Turks Network will also put together a 30-minute weekly version of its pop culture talk show PopTrigger. Once again, the show will feature the most popular and engaging segments from PopTrigger’s regularly scheduled YuuTube programming, featuring “celebrity interviews and candid pop culture recaps” with hosts Samantha Schacher, Brett Erlich, and Bree Essrig.

“As TYT Network has grown from a single show to an entire network, we’ve consistently found ways to bring our shows to more people,” said TYT Network COO Steve Oh

in the release. “We’ve long admired Hulu as a leader of online video and both parties saw an opportunity to bring digitally-native politics and pop culture talk shows to Hulu’s audience.”

TYT Network has already built up quite the audience on YouTube. The network boasts over 50 million views per month among all its properties (including The Young Turks, PopTrigger, What The FLick?!, TYT University, TYT Sports, TYT Interviews, The Point, Nerd Alert, and TYT Comedy. The Young Turks program alone has amassed more than 1.4 million subscribers and generated over 1.3 billion views since its launch in December 2005.

If you’re wondering whether or not viewers will tune into TYT Network programming on Hulu, it’s good to note that the brand has a very supportive fanbase. Enthusiasts of Ugyur, Kasparian, and company contributed $404,076 in December 2013 to help pay for a brand new studio for The Young Turks, from which they’ll soon be filming the vast majority of all their programming.
