YouTube’s Audio Library Gets Into The Holiday Spirtit

Not to be outdone by the rest of the internet, YouTube is having its own kind of Cyber Monday deal. Creators on the world’s largest online video platform will now be able to incorporate 24 famous holiday tracks (12 vocal and 12 instrumental versions) into their seasonal video productions for the low, low cost of absolutely free.

Winter favorites like Deck the Halls, Joy to the World, Silent Night, Oh Hannukah, and more make up the most recent additions to YouTube’s Audio Library. The service was announced back in August 2013, but officially launched in September

with at least 150 royalty-free soundtrack choices that creators could use hassle-free in their videos. And when I write hassle-free, I mean it. The Terms and Conditions of the use of the audio tracks is pleasantly small and (unlike YouTube’s full Terms of Service Agreement) almost devoid of legalese. Take a look:

Your use of this music library (including the music files in this library) is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. Music from this library is intended solely for use by you in videos and other content that you create. You may use music files from this library in videos that you monetize on YouTube. By downloading music from this library, you agree that you will not:

  • Make available, distribute or perform the music files from this library separately from videos and other content into which you have incorporated these music files (but not for standalone distribution).
  • Use music files from this library in an illegal manner or in connection with any illegal content.

Happy holidays and merry creating with music that doesn’t have to go through Rights and Clearances.
