Want To Be In The YouTube Music Awards? Record Yourself Saying Words

The YouTube Music Awards are on deck, but there’s still time to book your place in the festivities. YouTube has announced a contest where participants can have their beautiful faces appear during the YTMAs if they can successfully pull off an unusual pronunciation of a musical word.

Confused? Don’t worry, I’m just doing a bad job of summing it up. You know who does a better job? Jason Schwartzman. The YTMAs host’s latest video lays down all the ground rules:

See? Pretty simple. Just pick a music word from the list, shout it into your microphone in whatever peculiar way you can think up, and then hope that YouTube includes you in whatever montage-y type thing its planning with these words. And if you can’t think of any unusual ways to pronounce words, you can always draw inspiration from this guy

.

YouTube is also hyping the upcoming ceremony by letting some celebrities share some words of their own. Most interestingly, Eminem took over the YouTube Twitter feed on Friday, dropping some trivia about his upcoming album, Marshall Mathers LP 2. Want him to actually perform songs from it? Well, you’ll have to tune into the YTMAs for that, won’t you?

The ceremony begins on November 3rd at 6 PM EST. Until then, keep practicing your music words, check out the playlists curated by the show’s performers, check back on YouTube’s Twitter to see which guests pop in next, and don’t forget to vote. Oh, and make sure to check out this picture of Hannah Hart and Miley Cyrus. That’s super important.
