The Orchard MCN Makes B.A.C.O.N. With In-House Content Claiming Tool

Thanks in large part to its long roster of musical partners, The Orchard scored the sixth-most unique US viewers among multi-channel networks in the latest Comscore report. Now, the surging MCN is beefing up its offerings with an in-house auto-claiming tool, through which creators can quickly and easily monetize content. That tool’s name? BACON.

In long form, B.A.C.O.N. stands for Bulk Automated Claiming on The Orchard Network, and while the title screams parody, the tool is very real. It allows creators to claim videos just minutes after they are posted, allowing maximum monetization. B.A.C.O.N. takes advantage of the viral surge certain videos receive at their first availability, and yes, each surge counts many more than 301 views.

As with Broadband TV’s recently-released VISO Catalyst platform, B.A.C.O.N. can take care of menial tasks so that The Orchard’s partners can focus more of creating new videos and optimizing current ones. “Thanks to all the administrative and technical support The Orchard gives us to monetize our video content and resolve tons of third party claims, we’re now able to spend more time being creative on YouTube,” said Patrick Walch

, Head Of Digital Sales at Nuclear Blast, athat works with The Orchard. “As we film and edit content, engage influential commenters of our videos and trigger promising collaborations with other channels, we regularly receive wise input and expertise that helps to grow our subscribers and streaming video revenue every day.”

Despite the fact that it will never be as beloved as its namesake, B.A.C.O.N. will provide a big boon for The Orchard’s creators–so long as they keep their hands off Lawrence Lessig’s videos.
