Rooster Teeth, Blip Return For 2nd Season Of ‘The Gauntlet’

The online video sharing and distribution site Blip is operating business as usual in the wake of announcements of its acquisition by prominent YouTube Multi-Channel Network Maker Studios. And in Blip’s business as usual operations, one of its original series recently received one of the greatest pieces of praise in the online video industry. A second season.

Blip and acclaimed Austin-based production house and home of machinima wunderkids Rooster Teeth have teamed up again for another season of The Gauntlet. The epic competition that pits gaming enthusiasts against one another in a series of elimination challenges until one individual and/or team is left standing with a grand prize made its sophomore season debut on Blip.com and RoosterTeeth.com on Sunday, September 1, 2013.

Red vs. Blue creator and Rooster Teeth principal Burnie Burns returns as host of The Gauntlet. He’s accompanied this time by lovely assistant / comedic foil / Red vs. Blue voice actor, Joel Heyman.

Fans familiar with The Gauntlet’s first season will notice the familiar player vs. player premise in Season 2, but with a few major

differences in its execution. This time around, instead of 19 individuals competing for a $10,000 grand prize, four teams of gamers (“one from Rooster Teeth, one from Achievement Hunter, a team of gaming celebrities, and a team made up of Rooster Teeth fans”) will compete for the chance to donate $10,000 to their charity of choice.

Rooster Teeth held a competition at its annual RTX Convention to find a set of elite gamers who would comprise the team made up of RT fans. The first part of that competition is featured in the premiere episode of Season 2. Check it out:

While GEICO was the official sponsor of the first season, the Government Employees Insurance Company has gone onto sponsor other Blip original series. In its place, Verizon and Motorola DROID area headlining the sponsor ticket on The Gauntlet’s second season.

Tune into the second installment of the fan competition on Sunday, September 8, and then come back to Blip.com and RoosterTeeth.com on October 20. That’s when the season will resume and new episodes will debut every week.
