The upcoming I’m Vlogging Here documentary won’t be the only film to delve into the lives of professional YouTubers. Creator Dan Dobi has released Please Subscribe, where he tracks the lives of eight popular YouTubers as they make their videos, interact with their fans, and discuss the ways in which online video has changed their lives.
Please Subscribe tracks eight different creators, each one with his or her own path to success. The collection of stars–Daily Grace, Dan Brown, Hannah Hart, Mitchell Davis, MysteryGuitarMan, SeaNanners, TheWillofDC, and Wheezy Waiter–all have unique perspectives, if the documentary’s trailer is to be believed.
The film will be released through the pay-to-view Chill platform, where it joins other notable projects such as recent specials from comedians Maria Bamford and Doug Benson. An HD download is available for $9.99, with a t-shirt bundle available for an extra ten bucks.
To Dobi, who also sports a YouTube channel of his own, the movie embodies the spirit of YouTube collaboration. “This movie wasn’t just made by me, but it’s a byproduct of the entire movement that we have come to know as YouTube,” he writes. “I hope you’ll watch, enjoy, learn, and appreciate what I have come to find are not just my friends, but pioneers, entrepreneurs, daredevils, and visionaries.” Ten dollars is a hefty price tag, but look on the bright side–it’s way cheaper than a plane ticket to Playlist Live, and yet you’ll still be able to glean plenty of information about the life of a YouTuber.
