OnlyFans rolls out category-specific hubs to helps its users discover new accounts to follow

A trio of new hubs will reveal the breadth of content offerings that can be found on OnlyFans. The platform best known for its explicit content has revealed verticals based around specific genres. To start, OnlyFans will highlight uploads that fall into the categories of sports, comedy, and podcasts.

OnlyFans CEO Keily Blair announced the new verticals during an address at the Online Marketing Rockstars Festival in Hamburg, Germany. “OnlyFans has always celebrated creators from every genre, who want to connect with a global audience of fans in a space designed for adults,” Blair said. “These new dedicated community pages are designed to celebrate the incredible range of talent on our platform, while helping creators grow their followings and unlock new revenue opportunities.”

Many of the creators featured on the verticals already have strong followings on OnlyFans. The sports hub, for example, directs users to athletes like Cris Cyborg and Lisa Buckwitz, who use their OnlyFans accounts to keep fans updated (and share the occassional thirst trap).

The hubs also tie into OnlyFans’ original programming endeavors. Through a platform called OFTV, OnlyFans has moved beyond its NSFW reputation to offer all-ages shows in categories like reality TV, cooking, and even fishing. Some of those shows, like the sports program Rise & Grind and the laugher LMAOF, can now be discovered on the relevant category-specific hubs.

At the end of the day, the most important breakthrough OnlyFans brought to the creator economy is agency. By letting creators market and sell their own content, the London-based platform empowered its base. That quality is on full display on the new hubs. Comedians like Claire Sundbye have prioritized OnlyFans because of its support for edgy content, even when that boundary-breaking material doesn’t feature any nudity. And top OnlyFans stars like Harry Jowsey have employed the platform as a promotional tool for their podcasts and other ventures.

That sense of freedom is worthwhile when it comes to audience engagement, but as OnlyFans expands, it must prioritize community as well. That’s the move Patreon is making with its pivot toward discovery features, and OnlyFans’ new hubs allow it to move in a similar direction.
